This weekend is designed to help women discover personal FREEDOM by revealing areas of bondage that are weighing them down and learning how to break free from that bondage.

Christ calls each of us to live free of shame and fear, recognizing our true identity as a unique daughter of Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit within us. During this personal journey, you will have the opportunity to build relationships and bond with other Christ-minded women in a safe, nurturing environment. You will be given tools you can use in your day-to-day life that will help you maintain the freedom, truth, and power you discover. But above all, it will encourage an honest, open relationship with Christ and the people in your life.

Join us on April 17th and 18th at Wood County Cowboy Church, where the men of W3C will lead a weekend experience created by men, for men, focused on faith, brotherhood and real conversations that matter. Check-ins will be at 6 pm on Friday and it’ll go through Saturday night.

The Care Team is planning another Cookie Outreach and needs your help. This is the second year of this unique outreach, where we bake and distribute homemade cookies to local businesses with information about the church along with an invitation to join us at W3C. The Care Team organizes this, but it's really a chance for the whole church to help! If you'd like to pitch in, please prepare some homemade cookies and bring them to church on May 18th or simply stick around after church to help package them up and get them distributed. If you're looking for a way to serve, this is a great way to contribute towards the mission of telling more folks about Jesus!

Something is stewing at W3C and you're not going to want to miss it! On Saturday, April 19th, we're bringing you a fun-filled day with 3 awesome competitions: cornhole, stew-off, and goat roping!

The action starts at 9:30 am with the cornhole tournament. It's $5 per person, $10 per team and the winner takes the pot. Then prove your culinary skills with the stew competition. Come taste all the entries starting at noon. Then hang out for goat roping, which begins at 1:30 (books open at 1).

Annual Youth Camp Fundraiser, Auction, and Bake-Off is April 6th

It's time for our annual Youth Camp Fundraiser and this year. We'll be holding our baking competition and live and silent auctions to raise money to cover expenses for sending our pre-teens, teens, and volunteers to the 2025 AFCC Cowboy Camp. We'll also be selling plate lunches and this year, you'll be served by the youth....with the help of our wonderful Chuckwagon Team, of course!

We're currently asking for and accepting, with much gratitude, donations for our live and silent auctions. We've auctioned off some awesome items in the past and we're confident this year will be no different!

Please join us after church on Sunday, April 6th for the fundraiser. You don't want to miss your chance to win the baking competition, be served a delicious meal by the youth, or take home something special from our auctions (including all of the entries from the baking competition)! We look forward to seeing you there!

Up first will be our Family Ranch Rodeo, which will be Saturday, March 15th. Contestants will compete in trailer loading, detagging, and sorting. Books open at 5 pm and the Family Ranch Rodeo will start at 6.

Next will be the Triple Threat Rodeo! On Sunday, our rodeo athletes will compete in sorting, penning, and trailer loading. Books open at noon and the rodeo starts at 1 pm, so join us for our Sunday church gathering at 10:30 and stay for the competition!

The W3C Women's Ministry will be starting their next Bible study on Monday, March 3rd at 7 pm! All supplies needed for the study will be provided. Read below to get a taste for what our Women's Ministry will be diving into with this new study!

Do women matter to the Kingdom of God? Jesus was surrounded by both men and women during his ministry on earth. He saw, valued, and cared for women, and still does today. Each of us has a significant role. Through this six-session study, we will discover who Jesus is through the unique perspective of women in the Bible. As we study the lives of Mary, Martha, Mary Magdalene and others, we will learn from their faith and failures and be reminded that Jesus cared for and valued the women he was surrounded by. He equipped, listened, walked with, healed and empowered them. And he does the same for us today.

On Sunday, June 9th, the Care Team will gather in the Youth Building after the 11 am service to package homemade cookies. The cookies will be labeled with all church information and distributed to local businesses as a means of inviting others to church. Please bring your favorite homemade cookies and a finger food for lunch. You don't have to be a care team member to join the fun. This training covers all necessary requirements to qualify the student to apply for the Texas Carry License for the classroom and range portions.

Legal discussion, written exam, and shooting proficiency all conducted in a 5-6 hour course.

Requirements: handgun of at least .22 caliber, unloaded in a range bag or case, 50 rounds of ammo, eye and ear protection (prescription and sunglasses are fine), pen/paper, driver's license or state ID, lunch and drink.

It's time to decorate your Derby Hat!

Every year, W3C celebrates Derby Hat Sunday, which falls on the Sunday after the Kentucky Derby. It’s an opportunity to dress up and wear your most stylish hat. Encourage your partner to join in the fun by wearing a fancy tie, bolo, hat, suspenders or anything that they consider fancy.

The Women’s Ministry is also having a hat decoration day to get ready for Derby Hat Day. Please bring a plain hat that you can decorate and any leftover ribbon, lace, flowers, beads, or anything else you’d like to use to decorate your hat. Don’t worry if you don’t have any, as we will have hats and decorations available. If you have a glue gun, please bring it along.

Wilderness Women's Lock-in

A God-filled night out with the Ladies!

We want you to join us on March 1st-2nd at the Wilderness building for a women’s lock-in beginning Friday at 5:30 pm and ending on Saturday at 2 pm! All women are invited ages 16 and older. You are not required to stay the night and are more than welcome to leave Friday night and come back Saturday morning. Your participation will only require $10 a person! Child care will not be provided.

Our time together will be a very intentional break from life. We want to listen to our own speak and watch different sermons on various topics that we can dive into and discuss as a group. We want this time to be full of discovery, reflection, sharing, and bonding. We will also have live music for worshipping together. We want to leave having learned something, shared something, and know someone better!

We will provide dinner on Friday night and breakfast and lunch on Saturday. You are welcome to bring your own snacks and drinks throughout the weekend. If you plan on staying the night, we ask that you bring your own air mattress and bedding. If you do not have an air mattress, let us know prior to the event and we will find you one.

Join us for the 2023 Breakaway Barrels, and Goat Tying Challenge!

W3C is pleased to bring back the BBG Challenge, which is scheduled for Sunday, November 12th! This is a fun event to compete in and just as fun to watch! Contestants will do breakaway, barrels, and goat tying in a single run! Books open at noon and the competition starts at 1. The Chuckwagon Team will make sure concessions are available for purchase, so don't worry about going hungry; come for our Sunday service at 10:30 and stay for the BBG! Wood County Cowboy Church will be hosting a UPRA Rodeo on August 11th and 12th! Admission is free to attend and concessions will be available. Come out and watch some professional athletes compete in your favorite rodeo events!

It was another successful youth camp season this summer as our W3C kids attended Cowboy Camp at Camp WOW in Stuart, Oklahoma. We're proud of our kids and how they represented themselves, their families, and W3C and how they grew in their relationships with Jesus. We had several new salvation decisions made during camp as well! We want to thank our congregation for supporting our youth through mentoring, fundraising, and encouragement. We love that our community pours into our kids as much as they do!

Youth Camp Fundraiser

Annual Youth Camp Fundraiser, Auction, and Bake-Off is June 11th

It's camp time! Please join us on Sunday, June 11th after church for our annual Bake-Off Competition & Auction! Funds raised help send our W3C kids to Camp WOW.

Baked goods must be at the church by 9 am to be judged for the competition. The winning women's entry, men's entry, and youth entry (under 18 years old) will be announced after church. All baked good will be auctioned in our live auction. Only home-baked good can be entered in our competition, so start working on your recipes because it's always a fierce competition!

We're also currently accepting donations for our silent and live auctions. Handcrafted goods such as artwork, leather goods, woodworking pieces, quilts, etc., new or gently used items, gift cards, concert tickets, tack, etc. would be greatly appreciated contributions to our fundraiser auction.

Be sure to bring those checkbooks and stick around after church on Sunday, June 11th for our Youth Camp Fundraiser!

During this personal journey of self-discovery, you will have the opportunity to build relationships and bond with other Christ-minded women in a safe, nurturing environment. You will be given tools you can use in your day-to-day life that will help you maintain the freedom, strength, and power you discover. Facilities Team Showcase

Read below to learn a little bit about what it takes to keep the W3C facilities in good shape for our ministries! It's a great time to get involved on the Facilities Team!

This week’s serving team showcase is on the W3C Facilities Team. The Facilities Team is responsible for ensuring the church has adequate facilities to effectively carry out its ministries. They oversee the care, maintenance, and use of all W3C facilities except for the arena, but they help the Arena Team as needed there too! If you’ve been coming to W3C for a few years, you can see several of the projects and improvements the Facilities Team has completed, including building the sound booth upstairs, installing handrails on the stairs, and extending the stage to allow for storage of the baptismal when not in use. They also take care of many things we hope you never have to notice, like plumbing, electrical, and heating/cooling systems. If you are handy with power tools, can read a tape measure, use a shovel, paint, etc., then the Facilities Team can use you! Continuing with our ministry team showcases, this week we’re telling you all about the Audit Team! The Audit Team is one of the standing teams at W3C, whose main purpose is to audit and report on the church’s finances and ensure the accounting practices outlined in our bylaws are fulfilled. The Audit Team collects annual budget requests from the individual ministry teams and puts together the annual budget, which is then presented to the church congregation for a vote. The Audit Team also counts and reports on weekly attendance and giving at W3C.

With the start of the new year, leadership of the Audit Team was transitioned from Jack Pratley to Ruth Boggs. W3C would like to thank Jack for his 9+ years of service (and still counting!) to the Audit Team, including 5 years as the Team Leader. We are grateful to Ruth for taking on the role as Audit Team Leader after serving on the team for quite some time. Sunday morning Bible study classes will resume on January 22nd! Classes are open to everyone and are held at 9 am in the W3C Youth Building (behind the church). These classes are designed to help anyone increase their knowledge of the Word of God, regardless of where you are in your walk. Jesus said "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations..." (Matthew 28:19). The goal of this Bible study is to promote discipleship and provide you with tools and a greater biblical understanding for your spiritual walk.

If you’ve been following the page for the last couple of months, you know we have been highlighting our ministry teams. As mentioned when we kicked off this series, we’re providing details on what each team does so that you understand all of the ways you can help serve. All of the teams need additional volunteers, so we ask you to prayerfully consider where you can help the Kingdom.

For this week’s showcase, we’re taking a look at the Promotions Team! This team designs, orders, and sells all of that really cool W3C swag you see folks sporting. It feels good to wear gear with the logo of a church you’re proud to attend, but have you considered how something so simple as wearing a cap or t-shirt with Wood County Cowboy Church on it may start a conversation about Jesus with a friend or complete stranger? You might never know about a seed you may have planted with someone just by wearing a hoodie to the grocery store. It might be just the nudge someone needs to start a conversation with Jesus. It could prompt someone to look us up online and find out we’re a hospital for sinners, not a museum for saints and we’re ready to welcome them as they are. When you think about it, it’s more than just wearing some nice-looking swag. The Promotions Team has been hard at work setting up the new Tack Room space in the back of the church and stocking it with gear that you’ll be proud to wear. If you’re interested in designing items, helping organize the Tack Room, manage inventory, sell items at church or events, or hand out free promotional items at events we sponsor, please reach out to Promotions Team Leader, Lauren Aaron!

A healthy children's ministry is vital for W3C. Read below to learn how you can help serve on the Children's Team!

For our serving team showcase this week, we're highlighting our Children's Team. Our Children's Team creates a safe, engaging environment so kiddos can understand God's big ideas and also provides parents the confidence to leave their children in capable hands for 1-2 hours a week so they can focus on their relationship with Jesus and individual spiritual growth.

It's no secret that a healthy, growing children's ministry is vital for any church, and W3C is no exception! What you may not know is how many volunteers it takes to keep our children's classes open and running. Just to keep our classrooms open, we need a minimum of 8 classroom instruction volunteers per week! Did you know that all of the lessons are already prepared in advance for each class? If you can put a smile on a child's face, care for children, follow a lesson plan, greet parents, we have a spot for you! If in-classroom instruction isn't a fit for you, but you can help check in kids and hand out pagers to parents, you can help the Children's Team! Can you prepare and organize craft supplies for upcoming lessons? Can you help decorate classrooms? Can you help make costumes or edit video for the annual Christmas video? You can help the Children's Team!

COME AND GET IT! The call that is heard from a chuckwagon out on the trail when it comes time to feed the cowboys.

This week’s showcase is on the Chuckwagon Team, led by Steve Mieczkowski, who has been a member of the team since he started coming to W3C back in 2015. The Chuckwagon Team is a major part of our church experience here at W3C. They prepare meals, for sure, but do so much more.

This team loves to cook for our church family. On Wednesday nights, team members prepare a meal to be served before service. From Frito chili pie, to hamburgers, or a bow tie pasta bake, along with deserts, they make Wednesday gatherin’s a special time to bring families together.

If you have ever been to a rodeo event hosted by W3C, then you have had a chance to eat some of the good food that is prepared by the Team. A trip to the concession window may be to grab a burger, or candy bar or a soft drink. You never know what they may have prepared for the events, but it is always good.

If you ask any of the team members what they like about serving on this Chuckwagon, you will get various answers, but the one that was most common, is that it is a great way to serve our Lord by serving others.

Recently, the Chuckwagon Team was able to bless 21 families with Thanksgiving meals to prepare for their families this year. It is one of the many ways this team gives back to our community.

A lot goes into the services provided by this team, and everyone on the team pitches in. From cooking to making sure the pantry is stocked with all the items needed in serving for any event. You will always find this team ready to serve when you visit W3C – from making sure the coffee is hot and the donuts ready to enjoy on Sunday mornings, to feeding the crowds at a rodeo event. This week’s serving team showcase is spotlighting the W3C Care Team! The Care Team ministry provides support to our church body in times of need, such as illness, loss, and hardships. Often, this entails organizing and providing meals to help ease the load for a family during tough times. They also send personal notes and cards to offer condolences, love, and support during life’s inevitable valleys. Though the Bible guarantees that we will have struggles, the Care Team is there to provide support and comfort during these tribulations. If you’re interested in participating in a meal train, whether by organizing, cooking, ordering, or delivering meals or groceries, the Care Team can use you in this ministry. If you have a heart to provide words of encouragement or comfort or simply listen and offer prayer for a brother or sister in Christ, the Care Team would be a great fit for you. Our Music Team uses their musical gifts to lead the congregation in praising and worshiping God, inviting the Holy Spirit to move in and amongst us, and preparing our hearts for the message we are to receive. While we are always eager to add gifted musicians to our team, not all Music Team members serve from the stage! Do you have a discerning ear when it comes to sound quality? Soundboard operation is part of the Music Team! Are you organized and eager to serve? W3C Tech-Media Team Showcase

Interested in serving on the Tech-Media Team? Read below for a highlight of what they do and how they help spread the Word far and wide!

The Tech-Media Team plays a key role in helping keep an active congregation engaged and seeks to help expand the Kingdom by getting the Word to more souls through technological outreach. So how do we do that? This post you're reading on social media or on the website blog...that's one way. The livestreaming of church services or the Reels shared on Facebook or Instagram with sermon clips or event highlights are more examples. But the Tech-Media team is more than just social media. We're also responsible for website development and maintenance, and general tech support for the church. Not to be overlooked is how the team helps provide an immersive experience during our in-person services. The slides you see on the screens with announcements, scriptures, and lyrics that ensure you can sing along during the worship service are assembled and operated by a member of the Tech Team.

It's the perfect time to get involved as we're going to be holding a series of Tech Team training days in the coming months where we'll spend an hour or two training or cross-training everyone on each of the key roles described above. You don’t need any experience for most of these roles and we promise you don't need to be an IT professional to serve on this team! Are you good with or willing to learn Canva, Publisher, or other graphics software? You could help us generate graphics for our website, worship services, or social media feeds! Like to take pictures? We could always use more pictures from our events to use in our social feeds or future flyers. If you do have more IT-centered technical experience, we could use you for some projects we'd like to tackle in the coming year.

W3C Arena Team Showcase

Interested in serving on the Arena Team? Read below for a highlight of what they do and how important they are to our mission!

We're starting our service team showcase series with the W3C Arena Team! You have probably been to at least one of the many events hosted in our own arena and know how fun they are, but more importantly, they are a vital part of W3C's ministry. Rodeo and western culture events are our main areas of outreach and provide us with the opportunity to share God's love and God's Word with as many people as possible.

The Arena Team plans and executes all aspects of these events. They select the events, make posters and flyers to advertise the events, take entries, and arrange for livestock to be supplied when necessary. On the day of the event, they make sure the arena is watered (if necessary) groomed and safe for our contestants, set up poles, barrels, or chalk lines, depending on the event, manage livestock during the events. They also manage everything related to the contestants, from taking entry fees, setting the line-up, running the timers, keeping scores, emceeing the events, playing music, and distributing prizes at the end of each event. There are so many ways to get involved with the arena team! You don't have to be an experienced equestrian to help. Are you good with Canva or Publisher? You could help make flyers and posters. Do you have access to a bulletin board at work or in the community? You could post flyers to help advertise events.

If you're interested in serving on the arena team, get in touch with Arena Team Leader, Danny Corbin, or keep an eye on the announcements for the next arena team meeting. The next event is 11/20 and a perfect time to shadow some of our team members to learn more about serving in this capacity.

Women's Soap Making Class

I will place an order for loaf-style soap molds about a week before the class. The cost will be $13. Please let me know if you are interested.

Basic Soap Recipe

We will be making a basic soap recipe with ingredients that are readily available and can be purchased locally. This class is for women 18 years and older.

Cost: $15

Recipe ( provided)

10 oz olive oil
20 oz coconut oil
9 oz distilled water
4.78 oz 100% pure lye

Equipment - most equipment will be provided but you will need a soap mold of some type. Please let me know at least a week ahead of time if you would like to order a loaf soap mold for $13.

Digital scale (3 available)
Immersion (stick) blender (4 available)
Measuring cup for lye
Measuring cup for oils
Pitcher for mixing water and lye solution
Pan or pot for heating oil

Soap mold with silicone liner or parchment **Please bring something

almost any heat-proof, non-aluminum container can be used if lined with parchment, i.e. pie pan, empty oatmeal box, loaf pan...

Latex, nitrile or other type of protective glove

**Please be aware that heat-proof plastics can absorb lye. If you use plastic equipment, it should no longer be used for cooking.

When it comes to plastic, choose containers with the plastic code #5 on it, which means that the container is made from polypropylene. It can take the high heat and is sturdy.
